Joan Hernandez Serret

 

Joan Hernandez Serret lives in Manresa, Barcelona.

His practice of Taiji Quan and Wushu began at the age of 15 years. In 1988 he started too study Traditional Chinese Arts (Taichi, Bagua, Xing-Yi and Shaolin) under the instruction of Master Lam Chuen Ping and Carlos Moreira, who are both highly respected and appreciated. In 1990, he received the 1st Dan of Wushu teacher (Master in Taiji) by the Judo and Associated Arts Federation of Spain, and the Shaolin Black Belt.

From 1991 to 2001, he practiced Bagua and different Taiji Quan styles following the international Siming School directives belong to Master Wang Bo.

From 2001 to the present, he has carefully dedicated himself to the study and practice of Taiji Quan from the union between health and traditional martial arts perspective. He now has the great honour of promoting and being part of Master Lei Shi Tai's Sun Shi Taiji Association, together with his representative in Europe Bob Melia.

Following Professor Chen Guang Fu, he entered into Chinese Medicine. He attended the post grade/master in Acupunture for Health Professionals at the University School of San Juan de Dios, which is associated to the Barcelona University (UB), graduating in 2005. His final Thesis was about "Fundamentals of Taiji Quan's therapeutic effects on arthritis based on the traditional Chinese medicine knowledge".

In 2006 he finished his studies on Eastern Asia Studies, including a post grade about "Enterprises and business in Eastern Asia" and another about "China and Chinese World".

During his stay in China in 2006, he continued his research on Acupuncture and Tuina at the Traditional Chinese Medicine University of Guangzhou. Further on, during 2006 and 2007 he studied acupuncture on animals with Marita Casasola.

Since 2006 he has belonged to the Professionals of Traditional Chinese Acupuncture Association (APATC). Joan Hernandez Serret has been the manager of the Terrassa Taiji Association since 1991, promoting and teaching at the same time Taiji in different centres in Cataluña and throughout the Spanish State.

Apart from the Taiji Quan and China medicine, he is specialist in the mediation of the conflict and since 1998 he has been working with the official inter-religous encounter (The inter-religious center of City Hall, IV Parliament of the World Religious and Establish Working Group of Religions).
